Initially, I planned on riding along the Eurovelo 8, the mediterranean sea route. A few weeks ago I purchased the eurovelo map and learned that about 90% of the eurovelo 8 is not finished! Thinking more about the trip, I actually think the Eurovelo 6 is the best option. First, completely intact: http://www.eurovelo6.org. Secondly, the trip looks awesome! I know virtually nothing about Eastern Europe....Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary...I think most people still associated with the corrupt and communist Soviet era. I know this will make my journey that much more interesting!
I am committed to cycling the world for the nonprofit group Neighborhood Bike Works. Cycling has certainly changed my life, NBW continually changes the lives of hundreds of others. This tour is named after the Ride of Dreams, a three day ride hosted by NBW. If you would like more information about NBW please visit http://www.neighborhoodbikeworks.org. Istanbul
So I have done some research and I have almost finalized my route for the trip! The Australia and New Zealand routes are a little more limited, by the possibilities for the Eurotrip are endless! I was always pretty certain I would ride along the one of the Eurovelo paths. If you are not familiar with the Eurovelo, it is a cycling trail network throughout the continent that consist of 12 trails. The trails have a few features that I find especially attractive. First, the trails span the entire continent, allowing me to cross in a realistic time frame. Secondly, they attract other bike tourists, which will make the trip more safe and fun. I am planning now to fly into Istanbul and take some type of train to Romania, where I will hop onto the Eurovelo 6, the Atlantic to Black Sea Route. The Eurovelo 6 crosses through a number of different countries in both Eastern and Western Europe.

So this weekend I am going to complete a century! Although I have completed many many miles over the past few months, I haven't completed a century since January! So I'm off this Saturday to go to New York! Wish me luck!

Less than 4 months!
Welcome! First, if you have never met me, my name is Peter Krumbhaar and I am a recent college grad from the University of Pennsylvania. Over the past two years, I have dreamed of riding across the world on bicycle. This April I will get my chance to ride a few parts. On this website I will write, post my photographs, and document my journey across Australia, New Zealand, and the continent of Europe. I have many reasons why I am undertaking such a long journey. While many of these reasons seem relatively trivial, the main reason I am committed to this trip is Neighborhood Bike Works. Cycling has certainly changed my life. Neighborhood Bike Works has changed hundreds, possibly thousands of lives of children. NBW is a nonprofit educational organization in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs that seeks to increase opportunities for urban youth through bicycling, and which promotes cycling as an environmentally - friendly means of transportation. If you would like more information about Neighborhood Bike Works please visit http://www.neighborhoodbikeworks.org.
